Save the Date!

Please save the date for the next Azalea Coast Library Association (ACLA) Quarterly Meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the New Hanover County Public Library Main Library in downtown Wilmington, 201 Chestnut Street.

Also save the date for the first ever ACLA one-day conference at the same location on Friday, April 22, 2016.

There will be a variety of presentations, panels, and breakout sessions on the themes of Technology, Programming, Marketing and Library Instruction in all kinds of libraries.

Look for upcoming networking events in the ACLA area in the beginning of the year!  We co-host with NCLA’s New Member Round Table and hope you will join us!

ACLA Meeting October 29th, 2015

We will be having our 4th Quarterly Meeting on Thursday, October 29th starting at 4:00 p.m. at Ashley High School Library Media Center. Please join us for networking, seasonal snacks, discussion and association business.

Agenda:
4:00-4:30 p.m. – Networking
4:30-5:30 p.m. – Topics for discussion:
• ACLA members will share their experiences at the North Carolina Library Association (NCLA) and North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA) conferences which were both held last week. (NOTE: If you attended either conference, please come and share your experience!)
• Discussion of creating a Treasurer board position for ACLA
• Updates on the Spring Conference being held at NHCPL on Friday, April 22, 2016
o Drawing for the winner of a FREE registration to the conference from the ACLA table at NCLA

Parking:
You can park either in front of the school or to the left once you enter Ashley High School’s driveway. The main front door will be the only door open. Once you enter the building, you will need to go to the office, sign in and get a badge.

ACLA Meeting

The 4th Quarterly ACLA Meeting will be held at Eugene Ashley High School Library on Thursday, October 29th from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Thomas Frey: Future Libraries and the Four Crossroads of Change on Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Save the date to attend the first event in the New Hanover County Public Library Symposium on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Cape Fear Humanities and Fine Arts Center.

Clay tablets, papyrus, paper, cloud: how will information and stories be published, stored, delivered and read in the future? New Hanover County Public Library presents visionary author Thomas Frey speaking on “Future Libraries and the Four Crossroads of Change,” in the main theater of CFCC’s new Humanities and Fine Arts Center, located at 700 North Third Street.

 Thomas Frey is Senior Futurist of the DaVinci Institute, a nonprofit futurist think tank that operates as a working laboratory for the future human experience. Learn more about him at The DaVinci Institute.

Free and open to the public.
