About

Azalea

Welcome to the Azalea Coast Library Association (ACLA).  This organization is open to students enrolled in Library Science programs and library employees in Southeastern North Carolina.  We meet quarterly to discuss and learn about current trends in libraries, books, and emerging technologies.  We strive to be knowledgeable about programs, events, and issues affecting the public, school, special, and academic libraries in our region, and to offer a support network.

The first meeting of the Cape Fear Library Association (former name) was held on April 22nd, 2004 at the Northeast Regional Library of the New Hanover County Public Library system.  The meeting was attended by library staff from local and regional colleges and universities, public libraries, school media centers, AHEC libraries, and the NC Justice Academy Library.  Jean Crisp, from the State Library of North Carolina, was also in attendance.

The Association was formed, and it was agreed that it would be named, The Cape Fear Library Association.

“The Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support and promotion of libraries and the development of library personnel in Southeastern North Carolina.”
