Fulbright Scholar Presentation

Dr. Bruce Durie, a Fulbright Scottish Studies Scholar, is scheduled to speak at the Headquarters Library in downtown Fayetteville, NC, on Sunday, May 1st at 3 pm. Dr. Durie will discuss the challenges facing genealogists who are tracing lineages that lead to (or from) Scotland. Internationally recognized as one of Scotland’s top genealogists, Dr. Durie is currently in residence at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, researching Lowland Scots migration to the Carolinas and teaching classes on Scottish genealogy and culture. An author as well as a radio personality (BBC’s “Digging Up Your Roots”), he has authored over 30 books, including the best-selling Scottish Genealogy. There is nor charge to attend this event, and light refreshments will be provided by the Cumberland County Genealogical Society, who are the co-sponsors.
